    Hi everyone,

I weigh about 116kg+- and I want to use MC to lose weight and yes for detox. We do not have maple syrup in Lesotho, and one friend told me I can substitute syrup with black molasses, is this ok. Well I know I can order a pack but its funds aren't available and I want to start as soon as possible.

Hi Fattybom. Yes, you can use *blackstrap* molasses instead of the maple syrup and this is recommended for diabetics to start with. The taste is a big minus though. Two diabetics that I know who have completed a Master Cleanse both couldn't stand the molasses taste and switched almost immediately to the maple syrup!

Before you use "funds not available" as an excuse ;) think about this:

How much money will you spend on food and drink over the ten + 3 days? Now compare that to the cost of a complete "Singles" kit and some lemons and water...

Remember that you will not be eating anything for at least 10 days. And now, what is the value of the other benefits (losing weight, feeling great, motivated to eat better and lose more weight....etc etc.)

    :)

    Hi samkelisiswe2,

Although I am also new and haven't started yet, I know that Illovo maple flavoured syrup is a NO, NO, NO. Rather use blackstrap molasses or real maple syrup. I went to visit a friend in JHB last weekend, she is on MC day 11 now. Friends name is lefelas, you can ask her she is on the forum.

Good luck, hope you will reconsider changing the flavoured syrup.

    Hi, there Samkelisiwe

I understand that you can also use pure, organic honey in the place of Maple Syrup. Apparently, maple flavoured syrup is a huge no-no. Why don't you try honey? I have all my ingredients and I am starting the cleanse tomorrow. I will post my progress regularly. I dread the SWF and the first few days but I am all for it!!

Illovo "maple flavoured" syrup is simply refined sugar with no nutrients whatsoever and is not good for you at all, ever.

The same is true for honey. In his book Stanley Burroughs specifically insists that you do not use honey and gives his reasons. I would strongly advise that you read at least his book before you begin on anything. You can cause yourself physical harm if you do this improperly. Changing the ingredients to suit you is something you do at your own risk!

Fattybom: Use the best water you can find. Think about what you are doing and what your body will do with the water - the basic idea is a rest from feeding, and a cleanse. Water is used to carry nutrients into your body and carry the toxins out. The less toxins you introduce in with the water, and the purer it is, the better.

    Morning everyone,

Is hamburg tea a laxative tea. I understand it has some senna leaves and helps with constipation, the reason being that I have it at home and I used to use it while I was pregnant, it was working like a laxative tea then. I am planning to start on Friday so I want to make sure that I do things right.I CAN'T WAIT!

Well, yes I like to save (being a typical accountant).

    Regards

I am now on day 2 of the cleanse. Yesterday was far tougher than today so far. Yesterday, I threw up half the salt water flush so the actual "flush" was not so good. Today's salt water flush went better - I kept it all down. I put in a teaspoon more of the sea salt into 750ml of water. I went to the bathroom to "go" 4 times in less than 2 hours. I feel so good - I love the lemonade (I use blackstrap molasses instead of maple syrup). I also (out of curiosity) tried one glass with lemon concentrate instead of real lemons yesterday and the taste of the lemonade was just not the same at all. Real lemons not only work better but they taste better, too. I feel strong enough to tackle the next 8 days. When I get cravings and hunger pangs, I found that the delicious lemonade works wonders in "drowning" both the cravings and the hunger pangs. I had headaches and body aches yesterday and this morning but after the SWF, I feel so much better. I still don't poo strange material but that could be because, in general, I take very good care of myself and only eat food that is as close to it's natural state as possible. It is amazing how much toxins one's body can accumulate, hey? I have a lot of energy and my mind seems to clear. I still have a VERY mild headache, though. I look forward to finishing my 2nd day!

I am donw with day 2 - yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!! Today was much better than yesterday but I still have the headache, mild as it is. I am dizzy, too, but that could be due to the fact that I am hungry and in need of the lemonade. I ran out of my molasses half way through the day. I did not think that I would be needing that much but I am on my way to buy some more. Day 3, bring it on!!

I am now on Day 3 of the master cleanse. Whoever said they could eat a keyboard. I could eat the keyboard AND the screen, however, the lemonade still works wonders in "drowning" my desire to eat. I feel so much better. I am not dizzy anymore and my headache is gone. I have a lot of energy and still feel strong enough to tackle the next 7 days. Yesterday, I "cheated" by deciding to taste a piece of chicken (I was cooking for my family) and ended up spitting it. The pinky fingernail sized chicken that I managed to swallow stuck in my throat and made me so uncomfortable - that and that 3 grains of rice that I used to "taste". The fast went from being about weight loss to using it to get closer to God. I must say - using God as my inspiration is working so much better than using weight loss as one. I am looking forward to the next 7 days. Oh, by the way, I bought a bottle of maple syrup yesterday and I must say, the blackstrap molasses taste so much better and less sweet than the maple syrup so yes, I am back to using blackstrap molasses. Let us see how Day 3 pans out....

I have to say I wouldn't agree with you tumimasemene- I think you have bought Grade A maple syrup - it is much sweeter than grade B and far less tasty. That is whats usually available at Woolworths and other shops (even health stores) here in SA. The reason it isn't recommended is that its almost pure sugar and not very healthy. grade A maple syrup is what fat Americans pour all over their breakfast pancakes to get even fatter!

I tried the blackstrap molasses but it was horrible! I was diabetic (type II) and I didn't have any blood sugar problems with the grade B syrup. The grade A gave me VERY bad blood sugar increase problems and I'll never touch that stuff again. I say stick with the proper recipe - its tried and tested and it works!!

And don't mess with your body by cheating and eating something. You have to be crazy or have no respect for it to do that. If you are doing the Master Cleanse do it properly. Its all the people who do their own thing and have problems that then give the Cleanse a bad name. This thing is brilliant. Don't mess with it, respect it and give thanks. Just my opinion.

I forgot to add, I have had no blood sugar problems at all since my Master Cleanse (17 days). I wouldn't say I am cured yet but it certainly looks like it! I have got 4 other people to do it already and they are all much better too!

    I HEART MASTER CLEANSE!!!!!!

    go sharks :)

This is all very interesting, but............all I want to know is "Where can I buy molasses"
Once upon a time it was well favoured by farmers to feed to their livestock.
Once upon a time there was the OTK where farmers could buy these things.
I would be visiting them if I knew where to go.
Molasses is just a by-product of sugar. For heavens sake why is it so difficult to buy the stuff.

Hey, so is the Molasses syrup going to give u the same results as using grade B syrup! Want to do the mc, but want to do it right. Also how many 450g bottles of Molasses will a person need if wanting to do the mc for about 20days?

    Hi KittySkittles
I used almost the whole bottle of the Maple syrup you can order from Mike (this website)ie. 1.89 litres, 64 oz., for 10 days. The conversion would make that at least 4 x 450g bottles. So for 20 days it would be double ie. 8 x 450g bottles. I think it is much easier if you order the Maple Syrup here on line.
