    Gosh, I can’t believe how nice all of you are. Guys, it’s Monday and I am on DAY EIGHT!!!!!

    My husband’s two girls visited us from Cape Town on Saturday and I was struggling uuuuhhh, Iwas struggling!! At 11:00 they wanted Wimpy burgers and I almost died as it smelled so good.

    At 17:00 they asked for pizzas and I almost fainted!!! Yes, yes, I know … two fast foods on one day? But then you don’t know the desperation of a divorced dad seeing his daughters only like three times a year. However, I forced myself to go into some kind of Zombie-like state and I sat quietly drinking my black rooibostea, minding my own business.

    Yesterday (Sunday) we took the children to the Airport at 06:00 and when we came back, about 11:30 I made my husband crumbed chicken fillets stuffed with cheese and asparagus, spinach with cheese, cauliflower, brown rice and a small salad. So, yes, Flabby, I know what you mean. It’s not easy cooking your favourite stuff and not be allowed to eat it as well.

    Leanne, luckily, because the kids were here, we did not go to a braai. We did however watch the rugby and I have to say the guys played great. Maybe they had a fright because of the booing last week. I know the Carnivore. I’ve been there once or twice, and yes, its all about the meat. Isn’t it terrible to think how much junk we really eat each day? No wonder 60 % of South Africans are overweight!

    I’ve decided that I’m going to eat much more healthy from now on as well. Less starch, less meat and more fresh salads. I love Chinese food and if you cook it by yourself you don’t need to use so much oil. And you can use olive oil. I work for Taiwanese people and I love their food. Only they use too much oil. Otherwise it’s quite healthy with lots of veggies and very little meat. You can use brown rice as well and you don’t have to fry it, you can steam it. Ooooh, what am I doing thinking of all these lekker things?

    Anyway, I weighed myself this morning and saw that I lost only 1 kg this weekend. I’m no 69 kgs. I’m 1.68 tall so I suppose I won’t loose so quick anymore. I’m feeling great though. No more itching, my skin is healed. I feel like a new person.

    So, Patrick, three more days (including today) to go. I can’t wait to start on that soup of mine. I don’t want to sound like a moan bag, but you know, I’m actually getting tired of the sweet taste of the lemonade. I’m now using less of the sweet stuff and a bit more of the sour stuff (hehe) just to get a different taste. But wow, the result I’m getting is SO worth everything and I’m telling everybody about this detox. It’s so funny, I have a few girlfriends who are a lot overweight. Patric, I mean a lot overweight. When I started my first detox they didn’t say a lot. But I saw them watching me. When they saw me loosing all that weight they started to dodge the subject and mumbled about it being unhealthy. I didn’t say anything and avoided the subject too.

    Now this time, because I’m really getting thin now, they are getting bitchy. They keep on telling everybody about Maya loosing so much weight because she’s starving herself. I asked them once why they don’t try it as well but they say they are not fat because of eating too much. They have hormonal problems. And blood sugar problems. If they don’t eat they will get seriously ill. Once when the one said that to me again I saw her husband looking at her strangely, but he kept quiet. But I could see he wasn’t very convinced.

    Anyway, I’m feeling great about myself, I feel healthy (although a tad hungry) but I’m not desperate yet. I will survive my ten days. Hold your thumbs for me and please keep on talking to me.

  2. Maya, you are a champion of champions, and inspiring to listen to. Don't let the naysayers get you down. People can come up with all sorts of "reasons" why they can't do the diet because they're sceptical about not eating, but they're actually jealous. They are simply in the same trap hat the rest of us were in. The lie about the human body needing 3 meals a day etc. The only reason we are taught to believe that is to keep us buying unneccessary products & stuffing our faces.

    I've had my fair share of criticism too. I am 1.72 tall & am slightly underweight, so my fiancé doesn't really understand why I'm doing this. She's going to be away in Durban untill the 11th, and she's scared that I'm going to look like a refugee from Auswitz when she gets back ;) I have had to reasure her over and over again that I will only lose the weight that is toxic, and not muscle mass etc. She is still sceptical though. I guess she'll just have to wait and see.

    I started my latest cleanse today to mark the 1st day of spring & the beginning of my spring cleaning. As it is only day 1 I don't have much to report. The calorie count for 6 glasses a day is around 1200, making each glass about 200 calories. I will be having a minimum of 10 glasses a day to try and combat any major weight loss. I am doing this to detoxify & not to lose weight.

    I will report back every day or so to let you know how I'm doing.

    Keep going, your successes inspire me too :)

    hey Maya, sounds like you're having fun there. this is a great opportunity to make the diet changes you're aiming to. trust me, it will keep the good work done by the cleanse going and lead to better health and vitality. as for your friends, methinks they are a little blind not seeing that "hormone and sugar problems" are the RESULT of their eating habits. don't worry about what they're thinking, its how you're feeling that's important. and you know well that people don't fall over and die when they stop eating for a while, in fact they get incredibly better! who woulda thunk it?

    most overweight people know it all starts with eating whether they want to admit that or not. but they just don't know where or how to start changing those habits so they just keep plodding down the same deadly path of disease and "problems". there is just so much @#$%! in magazines and on tv about weight problems and diets etc that its hard to find something real to grab hold of. I was in that situation not too long ago but fortunately the master cleanse intervened. the good thing was that I actually went ahead and did it!

    stick to your guns, you sound like you will become a real inspiration, but inspiring by example, not talk...its the best way :) and remember you've discovered a great tool you can use throughout your life to put you back on track health-wise.

    It is 4:30 in the morning and I can not sleep.The last couple of months has been hectic - stress wise.I heard about the master cleanse about 2 weeks ago from a customer I saw.Eversince it intrigued me.Since I couldn't sleep I got up and went onto the website.I just ordered my single pack.Hopefully I will receive more info later today.Quite nervous.I am Afrikaans so please don't mind bad grammer or spelling.This is my first time I am doing posts or detox or any of this stuff so some support would be so helpful!Chat later!
